Safari Jacketも男の好きなアイテムの一つですよね。わたしも大好きです。この日着ているものの他にもう１着、英国製のものを持っています。これは別の機会に紹介します。
The Safari Jacket is one of the favorite items for men. I love it too. In addition to the one I’m wearing today, I have another one made in the UK. I’ll introduce it on another occasion.
この日、着ているのは今は無くなってしまったTIE YOUR TIE青山がイタリアのニットメーカーCristiano Fissoreに別注したもの。古着屋さんで発見したもので確か3,000円ぐらいでした。
The item I was wearing that day was a special order from the now defunct TIE YOUR TIE Aoyama to the Italian knitwear manufacturer Cristiano Fissore. I found it at a second-hand shop and I think it was around 3,000 yen.
素材がヘンプ（大麻）でできていて、普通の麻よりもかなり糸の地の厚いものでかなり珍しい逸品です。
The material is hemp and the thread is much thicker than regular linen, making it a very rare item.
こんなSafari Jacketを別注するなんて、当時のTIE YOUR TIE青山のセンスが光ります。

このSafari Jacketは、わたしにはやや大きめだったのでお直しをしました。東京にいるときはいつも、心斎橋リフォームのDr.久美子さんにお世話になっていました。古着を着こなすにはお直しは必須です。
This Safari Jacket was a little big for me, so I had it altered. Whenever I was in Tokyo, I always had it altered by Dr. Kumiko at Shinsaibashi Reform. Alterations are essential to making vintage clothes look good.
このSafari Jacketで使われているヘンプという素材ですが、実は大麻から作られた生地です。大麻から生地が作れる事実は、あまり、知られていませんが、大麻は日本古来から栽培され、終戦後の1948年にGHQ占領下で大麻取締法が施行され栽培が禁止される前までは、装いの生地としても、使われていた歴史があります。
The hemp material used in this Safari Jacket is actually a fabric made from cannabis. It is not widely known that fabric can be made from cannabis, but cannabis has been cultivated in Japan since ancient times, and it was used as a fabric for clothing until 1948, when the Cannabis Control Act was enacted under the GHQ occupation after the end of the war and cultivation was banned.

東京にいるときは、Wild Life Taylorの丸の内店にある床屋さんで髪をカットしてもらっていたので定期的に行っていました。髪を切ってもらった後に時々、気に入ったアイテムを購入していましたが、これもそのうちの一つです。
When I was in Tokyo, I used to have my hair cut at the barber shop in the Wild Life Taylor Marunouchi store, so I went there regularly. After getting my hair cut, I would sometimes buy items that I liked, and this was one of them.
Wild Life Taylorさんはとてもいい感じのアイテムを揃えているのでお気に入りの店の一つでした。残念ながら、2023年6月で閉店してしまったようで残念です。

靴は、名古屋の老舗アメカジショップDon’t（ドンツ）で入手したVintageのデッドストック品。ブランド名は不明ですが無骨な感じがしてこの日のような装いにはピッタリです。
The shoes are vintage deadstock items purchased at Don’t, a long-established American casual shop in Nagoya. The brand name of these shoes is unknown, but they have a rugged feel and are perfect for this outfit.
わたしは名古屋大学に通っていて、このお店は大学から近かったこともあり、学生時代は時々、デニムやTシャツなどを購入していました。今もとても味わいのある素敵なお店です。
I attended Nagoya University, and this store was close to the university, so I would occasionally buy jeans, T-shirts, etc. from there when I was a student. It’s still a lovely store with a lot of character.
わたしは、2024年時点で62歳。人間も少しVintageになっていますから、洋服も古いものばかりを着ていると、化石が歩いている（笑）ようになってしまってもいけないので
バッグは、ボッテガ・ヴェネタのCabat（カバ）を合わせました。
I will be 62 years old in 2024. As a person, I am a little vintage, so if I only wear old clothes, I might look like a walking fossil (lol), so I chose a Cabat bag from Bottega Veneta.
一時期、雑誌LEONがこのバッグを流行らせたことがありました。
At one time, the Japanese magazine LEON made this bag popular.
当時から欲しいなと思っていたのですが、ボッテガのブティックにはなぜか置いてありませんでした。
I had always wanted one, but for some reason it wasn’t available in Bottega boutiques.
2023年末、妻がボッテガの財布が欲しいとお店に行った時に、Cabatが並んでいて衝動買いしてしまいました。
At the end of 2023, when I went to a store with my wife because she wanted a Bottega wallet, I saw this bag, Cabat, on display and bought it on impulse.

実は、インスタでこの装いを投稿したら時々、厳しめのコメントをしてくれる欧米の男性から「このバッグは男がするものかい？」と冷やかされました。
In fact, when I post this outfit on Instagram, Western men sometimes make harsh comments, teasing me by asking, “Is this a bag something a man would carry?”
実は、欧米では、トートバッグは女性のものという一般常識があるそうです。
In fact, in Europe and the United States, it is commonly believed that tote bags are for women.
ジジイはそのことを知っていたので彼には以下のように答えました。

「欧米ではトートバッグは女性のものだと思われているのは知っているよ。だけど、こんな便利なバッグを女性だけのものにしておくのは意味がないじゃない。日本では、男性も結構トートバッグを使っているんだ。」と回答しました。彼も納得してくれたようです。
“I know that in the West, tote bags are considered to be for women. But it doesn’t make sense to keep such a convenient bag just for women. In Japan, a lot of men use tote bags too,” I replied. He seemed to agree.
